Meal Planning

So I am discovering a pattern. I do well at breakfast and lunch keeping them in a good points range. My problem comes with dinner. I never know what I am gonna make for dinner. Sometimes I come with an idea while I am at work, but then I can't remember if I have the ingredients at home or not and who really wants to go home and then go back to the store. I mean yeah it like a 3 minute drive from my apartment to the store, but really is that what i really wanna do after work. Especially after adding in the gym. I need to get a lot better at planning out what I am gonna make when. I'm just not good at it. I really wish I was. It's on my list of organize things I wish I was better at. Keep my apartment clean, know where things in my cupboards, eat all 5-7 servings of fruits and vegetables a day, and have a weekly meal plan. Anyone have any ideas on ways to make it easier to plan out meals?

So in the last week I have had 2 friends ask me if I am gonna be doing the Helvetia Half Marathon this next year. I am seriously thinking about it. It isn't the easiest course, about a mile on gravel, lots of hills. It it was one of the toughest things I have ever done, but it would be very cool to do it again and see if i get better at it. I think I would really want to start training now for it now. I mean I had started training for a June race in february and still didn't feel prepared.

So I guess the question my friends and followers is: Who is gonna do the Helvetia Half Marathon with me next year?

  1. I got a calendar that I write out what meals I want to make for the week on and that has helped with the shopping list for the week. Maybe 2012 half marathon post babies? :)

  2. There's a few websites that do meal planning for you and then print out a grocery list. One is called: Saving dinner (I think). You could brainstorm a list of dinners you like and then shop based on those meals and then rotate them. Then, pick something that you always have on hand so that you don't blow it. It's tricky, that's for sure, but knowing that it is tricky is half the battle.
