Poll Time

Next week I am starting a Biggest Loser Challenge. I am super excited, haven't done of Coach Chaz's challenge groups in a long time. And how super awesome that a whole new bag of shakeology showed up today. Well here now is my dilemma, I have no idea which dvd workout program to add to my current routine. Mind you my current routine is really only 2 one hour classes a week. So here is where you all, my friends, come in handy. I want to know which program you guys think would be good. Here are the options, please leave me a comment and let me know which one you think I would rock the best. *Les Mills Combat: Mixed Martial Arts with a couple of weight training workouts.  Actually one of my favorites, But I have never been able to complete the series. *P90X: Can you say push-ups, and pull-ups. True, I despise tony horton's talking through it, but there is a way to actually turn his voice off except for just the cues to change (is that cause beachbody figured out not every

I'm Back!!!!

A couple weeks ago, with the support and encouragement of a friend who went with me, I went back to Weight Watchers. It is always so much easier doing almost anything with a friend, especially since we joined at the same time. A lot is different from when I was last there, most of the people, the room. But a lot is the same, most importantly the actual program. While I am having to redo how I shop and plan meals, I at least already know the actual ins and outs. And, hopefully, I am also back to blogging. Thanks to this blog I have been able to look back and reflect on the struggles and successes I had when I was last seriously working at losing weight. I need to remember these lessons, learn from them so that I can repeat the successes and not repeat the failures.

One song at a time

I seriously thought about, I really need. I looked at that door a couple of times. I truly honestly thought about quitting in the middle of the workout tonight. Actually I think the first thought came before halfway. To say tonight's class kicked my butt and was rough is an understatement. When I wasn't thinking about quitting I was trying to not think about how I wanted to pass out. But, I dug deep and found a way to power through. So what got me through? I just kept taking it one song at a time. Couple deep breaths, a few sips (okay maybe gulps) of water, and one song after another I slowly got to the end. And that's a lot like what the last 4 years have been for me. One Song at a time. One pound at a time. One milestone at a time. One setback at a time. And that's all the last 9 months, one simple yet long setback. Which means I just need to take it "one song at a time" to get my weight/health/strength/body back to where it was.

ToolBox

Have you R.I.P.P.E.D? No, not ripped like what happens to you too tight favorite pair of jeans when you move wrong. I am talking the workout called R.I.P.P.E.D. I recently started back at the gym, so far only for classes, but I am getting there. And this is one of my new favorite workouts. One of the classes I have been trying my hardest to make it too is R.I.P.P.E.D. Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics, Endurance, and Diet. While we don't really focus on the D aspect at the gym, the workouts themselves are super amazing. I am especially fond of the Resistance and Power segments, oh and the cool down/stretch segment. The cool/down might actually be my "favorite" because getting to it means I have survived another intense workout and my body did it. Though I really do love the segments we use the hand weights for, I love my workouts with weights. Weights are my favorite part of P90X, my favorite part of Combat, and the reason I love PUMP so much. I guess it boils

Day 8...

Better known as Week 2 Day 1. Seems like a weird place to start a story. And it kinda is, but you all should probably know to expect "weird" from me by now.  I and several other ladies are doing a 3 week challenge group. It really is pretty awesome. We encourage each other, we talk about which workouts we love, which ones we hated, and what recipes we used that day. Remind each other to actually get up and press play and actually do those workouts, even the ones we don't love. Most of us are using the newest program from BeachBody called 21-Day Fix. Daily workouts for 3 weeks and clean eating based on a color coded container system. It does make it easy. I'm not gonna lie, after months of not working out and not eating super healthy consistency is most certainly a huge struggle. But I know I can do this. I know I can.

Journey

My friend Monica just posted a really really good blog post on Diet, Exercise and Body Image. No joke, it's really good. you should go read/watch it. Yep watch, she did a vlog!  Diet, Exercise and Body Image   What she posted really got me thinking, and in writing my reply to her post I thought I would share it with you.  In the last almost 4 years I have lost around 50 pounds. Don’t get me wrong, I am super proud of this accomplishment, however I still have around 50 more pounds to lose to be at a healthy weight. Over the last 6 months due to some various issues I have been on a plateau, not actively losing more, thou thankfully not really gaining back any of that previous weight. Earlier this week I was in a conversation with someone who asked if I was still losing, and when I said I was on a plateau her reply was “Well, you have already come so far”. And it was done. I have found that while on this journey, everyone else seems to only see how far I have come, while I mostly s

February Organizing Challenge

Image
If you are lucky enough to know me at all, you know that I suffer from a serious case of A.D.C.D. Attention Deficit Cleaning Disorder. I start cleaning in one room, find a bunch of stuff that needs to go to the kitchen so I take it out there (it will clear more space?), and than I start cleaning the kitchen, which leads to another room somehow. And before I know I am exhausted from cleaning for hours and yet nothing is clean or organized. Which is why the February Organizing Challenge my cousin Katie created is perfect for me. So far we aren't tackling entire rooms, and from the sneak peek she gave me, I won't need to be on my hands and knees with toothbrush scrubbing anything.  Day one was simply gathering supplies. Bins for sorting, bags for trash, vinegar for natural cleaning.  Day 2 is where the real fun started: Junk Drawer.  Before:   You all have heard of Piggy Bank, I present to you, the Piggy Drawer!  After: I have 4 boxes of matches. Not sure I actually

Frittata Time

Image
I know it's hard to believe, but up until an hour ago yours truly had never made a frittata. I kid you not. Oh I had attempted omelets before, but to be honest, those usually end up more like scrambles. But last week I was reading my favorite blog and my friend was sharing a really yummy looking recipe. Like really yummy. So yummy looking I decided right than and there it was gonna have to be on my menu plan for this week. And today was the day. So with my friends recipe printed out and all the ingredients gathered I set out to make my first frittata.  Low and behold, I did it!!! I'm not gonna lie, I think next time I am gonna cut back on the amount of peas I put in. And well, I am not gonna lie I missed meat and crunch. Between the egg and peas, it was too soft. I needed something crunchy, and something a little salty (I discovered I didn't have any Parmesan cheese AFTER I was home from work), which means next time, it will have bacon in it. I'm sure
